Installation

At Gunfire, we understand the importance of fire safety and the role that each individual element plays in protecting people and property.

We do not compromise on safety. We supply and install fire-resisting door sets that are built to withstand the passage of fire for 30 or 60 minutes (FD30 or FD60) and are supported by our Third Party Accreditations to give you peace of mind that your fire door sets will be effective in the event of a fire.

Let us help you achieve fire-safety compliance and keep your building users and residents safe. Just give us a call or send us a message to learn more.

The Importance of
Fire-resisting Door Sets

The safety of residents and building users has always been important but in more recent times, due to tragedies such as Grenfell and Lakanal, there have been significant changes in the UK’s Building and Fire Safety legislation in recent years.

One of the most notable changes has been the introduction of the Building Safety Bill which aims to increase accountability and responsibility for safety in buildings, particularly in the high-rise sector, and includes provisions for more stringent safety checks, stronger enforcement powers for local authorities and new safety requirements for building managers.

This is why it is imperative that primary tested door sets should be installed by third party accredited installers to ensure the safety of all occupants. Comprehensive reports will also assist clients as evidence of compliance.

Gunfire can offer the following:

  • Solid core fire door sets rated FD30 or FD60
  • Bespoke fire door sizes to meet your requirements
  • Factory or site-fitted ironmongery with a range of locking mechanisms
  • A guarantee of up to 10 years on ironmongery and door sets

Why do you need a certified door specialist?

Installing fire doors is a complex procedure that needs to be carried out in accordance with the exact specifications so they will perform in the event of a fire. Faulty closers, incorrect ironmongery and poor fitting are only a few of the causes that could result in compromising the integrity of a door set. Gunfire installs fire door sets under our BM Trada accreditation, which means that we not only have the experience and skill set required, but BM Trada also audits our installations regularly.

We also have a select number of trusted fire door suppliers who we work with regularly and can offer a range of door styles which are Primary Tested/Third Party Accredited.

Replace or Restore and Maintain a Fire Door?

We recommend a complete fire door replacement if your current doors are not compliant. However do also offer fire door maintenance under our BM Trada Third Party Scheme.

If you’re not sure whether your doors need replacing or can be maintained, why not ask us for a Fire Door Survey to find out. Our surveyors will provide you with a comprehensive report detailing the issues along with photos, and recommend the correct remedial work to achieve compliance, we can even include the costs of carrying out the works required.

Why not also ask about our fire door maintenance subscription service and how we can take care of regularly checking and maintaining your doors?

How do we install Fire Doors?

We only install Third Party Accredited door sets and we fit them according to the manufacturer’s specifications and BS 8214. This British Standard provides guidance and recommendations for the installation of fire doors and doorsets in buildings to ensure that they meet the necessary safety requirements.

BS 8214 also includes guidance on the materials that should be used, the hardware that should be installed, the process for fitting the doors, and provides information on the testing and certification of fire doors, including the relevant British and European standards that should be adhered to.
